Here at Buckingham Garden Centre we offer a wide range of houseplants that will enhance your interior design and you will find them located at the entrance to our shop. Whether you are wishing to create a restful, calm atmosphere or a vibrant display of colour, we can cater to your requirements.
Always in stock are Phalaenopsis orchids, large specimen foliage plants and seasonal flowering plants. We also stock popular favourites such as African violets, Kalanchoe and Peace lilies. We source our houseplants from England and some from Holland, which means we can offer a varied range to our customers and if you don’t see what you are looking for just ask and we will see what we can do. We will also try to source unusual and extra-
We have a fantastic supplier of cacti, Pugh’s Cacti from Pershore, Worcestershire. They are growers of cacti providing unusual named varieties, from small cacti and succulents to large specimen plants and planted arrangements. So, if you are looking for something interesting and different don’t forget cacti as they look fantastic and they are easy to look after too.
At Christmas all of our Poinsettias, Hyacinths and Cyclamen are locally grown in Bedfordshire. The plants are delivered weekly to ensure quality fresh plants. Poinsettias are very sensitive to temperature fluctuation and draughts so by using a local grower we can be sure they are still in perfect condition when they arrive to us. At this time we also show a huge range of seasonal planted arrangements, in pots or wicker presentations, which make an ideal gift or simply a great feature in your home.
What about buying a pot cover from Scheurich, whom we have been using since 2014. The shapes, colours and designs change seasonally, but they do always remain good quality and at great prices.
Apart from the normal range of houseplants and cacti we also have a selection of unusual and fascinating Air Plants available. Air Plants, whose botanical name is Tillandsia, are a group of epiphytes (i.e. plants which grow on branches or trunks of host trees without parasitizing them) or lithophytes (i.e. plants which grow on rocks) in both cases no soil is involved.
They are very different to a 'normal' houseplant to grow but given the correct conditions s far as light, air, water and warmth they are really rewarding. When purchasing a Tillandsia pick up a 'Love Tillys' care card which gives some basic information. You can go to the web site www.lovetillys.co.uk and click on 'Care and Maintenance Advice' under' Information' and this will give more in depth advice.
We are proud to have trained staff who can offer you an amazing gift wrapping service on all plants to make a special gift for any occasion.
Finally, we can help you keep your plants in tip top condition with fertilisers, specialised composts and, for those plants that are more vulnerable, pest control.
