Buckingham Garden Centre

We are a family run garden centre that is well known nationally as a specialist for bare rooted hedging plants and young trees. The Garden Centre always has a good selection of shrubs and plants which are not commonly found elsewhere, together with a wide range of the more commonly sought after plants. Established for over 50 years, the Garden Centre has recently been redeveloped to a high standard. Our shop contains the largest selection of seeds and bulbs for miles around, together with garden chemicals, tools, garden furniture and many other goods. Outside we stock peat-based and peat-free composts, paving, fencing, timber decking, garden buildings and greenhouses, and a large range of pots, statues and garden ornaments. Our aquatics centre has a good reputation for their excellent quality tropical, marine and cold water fish. The Gardeners' Retreat, our coffee shop/restaurant, serves fresh home cooked food and is an excellent way to round off any visit to the Garden Centre.

JOIN US FOR A VISIT TO Lord and Lady Heseltine’s 70 acre Estate in Thenford, South Northamptonshire arriving by 1:45 for 2pm. The garden closes at 5:30pm.

This is a self-drive visit however we need to book as only pre-booked groups can gain entrance. As we are driving independently we need everyone to arrive by 1:45pm. Click HERE to see where Thenford is located. We will give you a flyer for your visit as reference when you book.

ABOUT THE GARDENS: On arrival to Thenford, you will be provided with an illustrated map as there is no guided tour; you are free to wander around the gardens at your leisure.

The arboretum has been created since 1977 and contains more than 3,500 different species of trees and shrubs. The layout is a horseshoe-shaped ring around the house, and closed by a lake dug in the 1970’s. There is a further 18th century lake, and an ancient yew avenue. The old walled kitchen garden was completely rethought in the late 1990’s, and the present layout was designed by George Carter. The area, which is approximately two acres, is in four sections – an herb garden, an aviary, a soft-fruit garden, a sculpture garden, rill and a quiet sitting area with a small pool.

Tea, coffee and cakes are available, during the afternoon in the Church Barn, at extra cost, and there will be adequate toilets.

HOW TO BOOK: If you would like to come along to Lord Heseltine’s estate on Saturday 10th June then admission is by ticket only which needs to be pre-paid at the Garden Centre. The cost is £12 per person and as this is a self-drive visit customers will need to make their own way to venue. You’ll find a map on the reverse side of a flyer which we will give you when you book which you will then need to bring along on the day as it will help you find the venue.
